It’s been a while since the Jujutsu Kaisen manga generated as much hype as it has this week. After the tragic chapter 236, in which Satoru Gojo lost his life at the hands of Sukuna, fans of the character continued to hope that he would return in the not-too-distant future. And time has proven them right.
The Hype is Real: Gojo’s Return in Jujutsu Kaisen’s Chapter 261
But Gojo’s return is not what anyone expected, not even me (and I thought he’d never come back). Gege Akutami had one last twist prepared for Gojo-sensei, and believe me, it’s one of the craziest and most spectacular in the entire series. It’s all explained in chapter 261, which has already been leaked in its entirety on the internet.
Spoilers Ahead: A Detailed Breakdown of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Chapter 261
- The chapter begins with Itadori trying to crush Sukuna’s heart with his hand (while emotionally recalling Choso)π€ππ»
- The King of Curses prepares to counterattack by activating his Domain, but then he sees something in the distance: Satoru Gojoββ
- The villain can’t believe his eyes until he finally focuses on the face of his former rival; Yuta Okkotsu used Kenjaku’s technique to switch his body with Gojo-sensei’sπ±π±π±π±
- Upon realizing this, Sukuna lunges at him while apologizing for having underestimated him.
After this, we enter a flashback in which the sorcerers discuss the idea of Rika devouring Kenjaku so that Yuta can copy his Cursed Technique and use Gojo’s body in case he dies in his fight against Sukuna.
Most of those present are reluctant for Yuta to do this and risk dying or even being trapped in his sensei’s body for life, but the young man becomes angry and tells them that if no one is willing to become a monster and take Gojo’s place (who became one to protect them all), then he will gladly do so.
After this, Yuta asks Gojo for permission to use his body in the worst-case scenario, and he agrees because he is convinced that he will not lose. Meanwhile, Yuta reveals that he believes he is a descendant of Fujiwara, and not Sugawara as Satoru had told him long ago; despite this, his sensei tells him that it doesn’t matter, that they are both relatives and that it’s possible that Yuta was born even more blessed than he was.
The Ultimate Showdown: Yuta/Gojo vs. Sukuna
After this, we see another flashback in which Yuta is VERY badly injured in Shoko’s clinic after having been cut in half by Sukuna’s attacksβ.
Before reaching his limit, he uses Kenjaku’s technique and transplants his brain into Gojo’s body, where he instantly had to use his Reverse Cursed Technique to regenerate himself 100%π©Ήπ©Ή.
After this, we return to the present, where Sukuna and Yuta/Gojo activate their Domain Expansions at the same time (Malevolent Shrine and Infinite Void)π±π±.
