Silent Hill Creator Reveals Tokyo Ghoul Inspiration for New Horror Game, Slitterhead

Keiichiro Toyama, renowned for creating Gravity Rush, Siren, and Silent Hill, is currently putting the finishing touches on his new action video game, Slitterhead. In an interview with Japanese media outlet Game Watch, Toyama revealed that one of his main sources of inspiration for this title was Tokyo Ghoul.

Tokyo Ghoul’s Survival Horror Essence Infused into Slitterhead

Toyama mentioned that while he looked at manga like Parasyte for inspiration, Sui Ishida’s Tokyo Ghoul had the most significant impact. He was particularly drawn to the survival horror essence, the thrill of not knowing when you might die, and the supernatural battles found in Tokyo Ghoul.

Studying Seinen Manga for a Fresh Approach to Horror

The Japanese creator also disclosed that he studied other seinen manga meticulously to inspire and guide his approach to terror in Slitterhead. He emphasized that this game will be quite different from what he’s usually known for creating.
