To begin with, let’s take a look at the fire elemental spirit, the Salamander, and the information we have on her. We know she’s linked to the element of fire, currently held by Fuegoleon but previously linked to the elf Fana, and also that she possesses the greatest offensive power of the four elemental spirits. What’s more, it seems that these spirits are linked to deities, created just after the war against Lucifero to help their respective kingdoms prepare for his return.

It appears that the deity linked to Salamander and the kingdom of Clover is Hestia, the goddess of sacred fire and hearth, from Greek mythology. There are currently three elements in Black Clover that can be linked to Hestia: the statuettes in her honor present at the war merit ceremony, the parallel with the Virgin Mary, and the magic stone possessed by Fuegoleon that bears Hestia’s symbol, a torch.
Now, how do we connect Mereoleona to Hestia and thus to Salamander? They share a number of similarities, notably they are both the eldest of their siblings, they are both women, and they both have a link with the element of fire. What’s more, as Mereoleona is the strongest mage of her siblings, she would be the logical candidate to inherit the Salamander, especially given the importance of strength and determination in inheriting an elemental spirit.
The question then arises: why didn’t Tabata give Salamandre to Mereoleona earlier? It could be for story reasons, but it could also be that the magic stone tricked Salamandre into choosing Fuegoleon because of its presence.
In conclusion, everything seems to indicate that Mereoleona will inherit the Salamander, reinforcing her position as a worthy heir to Hestia. It could also mean the death of Fuegoleon, provoking a major evolution for Leopold and a change of mindset for Mereoleona, driving her to want to protect the kingdom of Clover.
