Dragon Ball: The 4 Reasons Why Goku and Vegeta Are Much Stronger Than Their Parents

“Dragon Ball” is a story that spans multiple generations, and we have seen Goku and Vegeta increase their power to colossal levels, to the point where everything their respective parents achieved as warriors pales in comparison. But how is it possible that these two Saiyans have surpassed their progenitors by so much? Let’s take a look at the reasons behind their incredible strength.

Unique and Special Training

One of the most striking aspects of Goku and Vegeta’s development as warriors is that they have been able to train under unique circumstances and with special masters. Here are some examples:

  • They have trained in special chambers that control aspects such as gravity or even time flow, making any training done in these chambers much more effective than under standard conditions.
  • They have trained with very special masters, such as Whis, an angel from Universe 7. Other similar names that can be mentioned are Merus, Beerus, Kaito, and other deities who have allowed Goku and Vegeta to grow in scenarios that Bardock and King Vegeta never had access to.
  • Many of their training sessions have also taken place for unique purposes, such as being able to use Divine Ki or learning to use Divine Techniques such as Ultra Instinct or Ultra Ego. All of these tools are resources that an ordinary Saiyan doesn’t even know exist.

Pourquoi Vegito est le personnage fusionné le plus sous-estimé de la série Dragon Ball ?

In general, it can be seen that the simple training regimen that Goku and Vegeta have followed goes far beyond what any Saiyan could do on their own. But of course, there is more to it than that.

Innate Saiyan Power and Its Repeated Potentiation

Saiyans have a special genetic predisposition that causes the user’s power to increase dramatically each time they overcome mortal injuries. And as we know, Goku and Vegeta have suffered a series of injuries throughout their careers that could easily have finished off any other warrior.

Obviously, the Zenkai phenomenon needs to be combined with the fact that, unlike Bardock and King Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta have had more opportunities to continue living. We have seen them die in scenarios such as the battles of Raditz or Namek. And yes, all of this contributes to potentiation through Zenkai. Since Bardock and King Vegeta died in their time without the opportunity to be resurrected, they never had the chance to continue developing in a similar way to their sons.

Powerful Enemies Who Push Them to the Limit

The Saiyans had a major problem: they were a conquering race that, obviously, conquered planets. However, those they conquered were generally weaker races not focused on war. Moreover, they served a tyrant like Frieza who was infinitely more powerful than any pure-blooded Saiyan. This means that the Saiyans of old did not have a scenario in which to grow through battle.

Goku and Vegeta have been able to face powerful enemies who have forced them to continue growing as warriors. Although their enemies are always extremely strong, they are never in a completely unattainable plane. Thus, thanks to the combination of training and the potentiation of Saiyan genetics, Goku and Vegeta have always been able to take advantage of the scenario of a threat as a method of becoming stronger, something that Bardock and King Vegeta did not have access to.

The Saiyans were a race of conquerors, and it was mainly on the battlefield that they found real value in their existence. However, what gave them power was also what limited their growth. It was warriors like Goku and Gohan who discovered the key behind the true power of the Saiyans: their emotions. And something that is hard to find: a pure heart. It is the combination of these factors that truly awakens the true power of a Saiyan.

It is true that over time, Bardock has been portrayed with a more “human” side, but in the end, he never became part of the kindness and good behavior with which Goku was raised on Earth. The Saiyans fought simply to end the lives of others and subdue them, while Goku has always fought to protect his loved ones and for the love of martial arts. In fact, all you have to do is look at how Vegeta began to approach Goku again in terms of power when he learned to live like an Earthling Saiyan.
