“Your Name” is one of the most successful animated feature films of all time, featuring a love story and science fiction that still resonates with everyone who saw it at the time. Unfortunately, today, there is no question of speaking positively about the film directed by Makoto Shinkai, as one of its producers has been arrested in Japan for a case of pedophilia (which, in fact, could worsen depending on the progress of the investigation).
What happened with Kouichirou Itou, the producer of “Your Name,” who was arrested in Japan?

To begin with, the background to the case: Kouichirou Itou was arrested by the Wakayama prefectural police after it was discovered that the producer had requested nude photos from a 15-year-old girl. These events took place in September 2021, in the full knowledge that the girl was a minor at the time.

Kouichirou Itou himself admitted to the crime, although he also said he wasn’t sure whether he had asked this particular girl for photos, as he had done so on other previous occasions.
In other words, it is possible that if the police continue to investigate, they will uncover even more acts of paedophilia on the part of Kouichirou Itou. It should be noted that Kouichirou Itou’s arrest actually stems from a police investigation into a case of prostitution. For the time being, therefore, little is known about the extent of Itou’s crime, and we can’t rule out the possibility that other victims may be discovered.
Beyond Your Name, Kouichirou Itou appears as a credited producer in Suzume, Le Jardin des Mots and Weathering With You. In other words, his presence has been constant in anime cinemas in recent years.
